Project Overview

Paytegrate is a financial infrastructure designed to help businesses grow their revenue by offering a comprehensive payment solution. It enables businesses to accept payments online and in person, embed financial services, power custom revenue models, sell products, and build more profitable operations.

The goal is to create a user-friendly platform that simplifies transaction monitoring, enables easy marketplace setup, and provides detailed analytics.

Problem Statement

Businesses often struggle with fragmented payment systems that hinder their ability to monitor transactions effectively. There is a clear need for an integrated platform that allows companies to easily track sales, manage payments, and analyze financial data to enhance their operations. Paytegrate aims to automate up to 75% of transaction-related tasks, improving operational efficiency for businesses across various sectors, including retail, hospitality, and e-commerce.

User Research

User Interviews

To understand the needs of our target audience, we conducted interviews with various stakeholders, including small business owners, finance managers, and tech startup CEOs. Here are some key insights gathered from approximately 20-30 interviews:

  • Customers are interested in an all-in-one application for managing their transactions and sales.

  • Many users are not very tech-savvy, necessitating a simple and intuitive interface.

  • A significant number of users expressed a willingness to pay for valuable features that streamline their operations.

  • Existing customers are open to transitioning to a new software solution if proper support is provided.

Based on the interviews we conducted we were able to group our user types into three different categories

Competitive Analysis

We analyzed existing payment systems to identify strengths and weaknesses. This helped us understand market expectations and areas for improvement.

Design Process

For the design phase, we drafted out a design system and worked on High-Fidelity wireframes immediately testing and iterating as we went forward so we could

A design system was created to ensure consistency and streamline the design process. It included UI components, typography, color palettes, and interaction patterns tailored to various user needs.

High-Fidelity Design

Using the design system, we developed high-fidelity wireframes and prototypes. Immediate testing and iteration were essential in refining the user interface and ensuring usability.

User Testing

Due to the project's ongoing development, we conducted in-house testing to identify any missing elements. Adjustments were made to features such as the agent functionalities, ticket purchase service, and referral analytics based on user feedback.

  • The simplicity of the interface but suggested enhancements for specific features.

  • The marketplace setup process was initially confusing, leading to adjustments in the onboarding flow.

  • Feedback indicated that more detailed analytics on their transactions.

Implementation

As the implementation phase is ongoing, I collaborate closely with mobile developers, web developers, and directly with the CEO.

The main challenges were minimal, with the mobile version functioning well. However, we encountered some limitations with the web application, particularly regarding animations, which required adjustments and discussions to optimize user experience.

Takeaways

✅ Building enterprise software is an ongoing process that presents continuous challenges and opportunities for growth. I encountered obstacles related to features such as table management and printer integration but overcame these by researching existing solutions. I envision the project expanding to include additional functionalities for industries like hospitality.

✅ Moving forward, I would like to enhance the UI by incorporating more colors to create a more engaging user experience, as our current design focuses on uniformity across products.
